Become an SRE Teacher Local Churches are responsible for authorizing and training SRE teachers in the Christian Reformed Churches of NSW. With the Church SRE representative liaising with the NSW CRCA SRE Coordinator to ensure all the relevant procedures and paperwork are adhered too. The firsts step to becoming an SRE teacher is to be in contact with your local Church and the SRE representative. Every SRE teacher in the Christian Reformed Church of NSW requires adequate training and paperwork including a WWCC number, Child protection training and approved SRE teacher training.
The steps to SRE Teacher Authorisation are: 1. Verification of a Working With Children’s Check 2. Complete an approved Child protection training (see below) 3. Complete relevant and approved SRE Teacher training (see below) 4. Complete the Declaration for Child Related workers 5. Read through and be familiar the Teacher Authorisation Process 6. Read through and be familiar the Department of Education Code of Conduct 7. Read through and be familiar the Teacher’s Manual
Further requirements before teaching in schools are: 8. Complete the SRE Engagement Form 9. Authorisation letter to the school principal 10. Authorisation nametag
Re-Authorisation process 1. Every year, SRE teachers must complete a classroom lesson observation with personal reflections. 2. SRE teachers are to undertake the relevant professional development as offered. 3.
